Love in the Ground Walt Whitman’s poem â€Å"This Compost† utilizes incestuous allusions to communicate a mood of revulsion, that is at once wondering and terrified at the ability of Mother Earth and her humans to turn death and decaying forms into provisions for life. By forming an incsestous relationship with the natural world, Whitman displays his belief that a perverse relationship with the Earth is what yields the food that humans need to survive. Furthermore, he shows that human’s relationship to the Earth is unbounded by conventional morals like the taboo against incest. The speaker’s terror comes from the perverse, yet eternally loving relationship that other men seem to disregard with their need to waste and decay the natural gifts; given to them for their own industry and agriculture. The last stanza clearly displays the idea that the relationship between humans and the Earth is in one part maternal. One might argue that death is being celebrated in its ability to nurture the Earth s processes, but the speaker is wondering at the Earth’s ability to â€Å"grows such sweet things out of such corruptions† (42). It is the Earth who is committing the â€Å"Sweet† actions, and not the humans. Nine times out of ten a child will pick the cereal with Hannah Montana on the box over the box that she’s not on. Since the days of radio children have been introduced to the idea that if I want to be a star I should eat the same cereals that the stars’ eats. The use of role mode ls and celebrities to influence children is used everywhere. If it is meant for the use or consumption of a child you will most likely find a celebrity attached to it. On average there are three televisions and one computer in every home. So it is no wonder how advertising can reach so many children. Problem Identification Pluto Telecommunication is facing many of the problems, which directly affect its market share. Pluto Telecommunication has three different departments, which are Sales, Customer service and Marketing. The problem, which is faced by Pluto Telecommunication, is that these three departments do not work together. Along with this, these departments work in against of each other. This kind of behavior of these departments leads to loss to the organization. This unprofessional behavior by the departments leads to losing of new orders by the company. It also increases complaints from the existing customers. In addition to this, the marketing department of the company had launched many of the products. But this is done without giving any prior notice and training to other departments. This will directly affect the sales of company. Analysis of problem Pluto Telecommunication is suffering from many problems, which affects the structure of the company roughly. In this case, it is found that there is an unethical behavior followed by the different departments. The analysis of this case can be done on the basis of the SOGI model: Societal, Organization, Group and Individual. Analysis at Organizational level Organizational Culture Each Organization is a mixture of organization culture and organization structure. According to Cresswell et al (2014), in every organization, unitary culture is followed. Veronica Tsang also followed the same culture in the organization. But in Pluto, the three departments made their own working culture, which is distinct from the main culture of the organization. In addition to this, the subculture, which is created by the departments leads to miscommunication and it also acts as a hurdle in achieving the organizational goal. The employees of the company should be innovative and practical enough to deal with the outsiders. This innovation can be developed among employees by adopting unitary culture in the whole organization. But strong culture not guaranteed success of the organization. IBM has the powerful organizational culture but till suffered from losses. Organizational Structure In the view of Erhemjamts et al (2013), Organization structure defines allocation, coordination and controlling of the activities for achieving the main aim of the organization. Structure of Pluto follows proper departmentalization system. In departmentalization, there is a proper hierarchy to be followed. In Pluto, all the three departments (i.e. Sales, Customer service and Marketing) give their reports to Ms Tsang. These departments develop their own organization structure, which leads to miss communication in Pluto Telecommunication. Intentional group permits all the employees to participate in all the activities of the department (Vandichel et al 2015). The employees of the sales department work as individuals for achieving the goals, which leads to discords among them. Customer service department follows the proper bureaucracy in its working, which includes working under proper level of hierarchy (Onyekwelu et al 2015). This department works under a set of law, rules and regulations. This working style may struggle in new circumstances. Along with this, marketing department of the company focuses on the teamwork but the department fails to identify the proper level of structure. This failure also affects in the achievement of the goal of the o rganization. Group Culture Group culture of Pluto telecommunication differs according to change in department. The sales department follows the culture of rewards and recognition based on performance of employees. In the customer service department, the style of working and authority is clearly defined, where the performance is tightly controlled by the head of the department. Due to this, it is not able to adopt the changes effectively. The employees of marketing department follow the same independent culture. This behavior of the employees affects the interdepartmental communications. In Pluto, this kind of the group culture is followed, which leads to disintegration in the organization. Analysis at Individual level Leadership Leadership plays a very vital role in the success of an organization. In Pluto Telecommunication, it is analyzed that Ms Tsangs leadership has failed to guide the employees of company in achievement of business goals. The above analysis has found that Ms Tsang feels that the entire departments heads criticize her work for the failure of the company. Ms Tsang should develop herself as a transformational leader to improve the condition in the company. She should transform her employees to work effectively and accurately. Motivation In Pluto Telecommunication, different departments motivate their employees in different ways. In the sales department, the employees can gain the rewards by achieving their individual targets. For earning reward, employee works individually and which leads individual work rather than teamwork. But, payment of rewards to employees cannot motivate employees. In the customer service department, bonus system is applied to motivate the employees to work effectively. At a certain point of time, motivation of the employees is from fear of failure e.g. warnings. In marketing department, performance targets are not clearly defined. Due to this, some employees feels undervalued in the department. Theory of W. Edward Deming also states that paying rewards and benefits to employees do not properly motivate them. Alternatives After the Organization Structure Pluto Telecommunication can change its organization structure to dissolve the given problem. Pluto should launch itself in the market as a whole unit instead of personal grouping in the departments. This can increase working flexibility and accuracy in company. Pluto should develop coordination among employees of different departments through group assignments and meetings. Pluto can reengineer its structure in the way that creates dependency of departments on each other. This can create sense of obligation among all. After Company Reward System for Improving Motivation Reward system is helpful in short-term motivation, but it is not effective for long-term motivation among staff (Kerr, and Rifkin, 2013). The goals assigned to employees should be clear, and challenging but attainable. Pluto should change its reward system by applying the flexibility model in the reward system where the employees are given the reward according to their performance. In addition to this, Pluto should improve a wide variety of the reward system, which will help in removing the barrier of communication among departments. Conduct Regular Meetings Regular company meeting can be conducted in the organization to eradicate the gap between the departments of the organization. These meetings are necessary to review the quarterly progress of the departments. Meetings can be helpful in bridging up the communication gap between the departments. Regular company meetings will create a sense of urgency for each department to share departmental progress at the meeting. Regular meeting of departments will give the information about the departments, which will help the other departments in deciding their actions accordingly. Develop Involvement Culture Involvement culture is the culture, which focuses on the participation of the companys employees in different activities, contest, and decision-making ( boyd, D. 2014). Pluto needs to change its organization culture and to adopt the culture of involvement to achieve business goals.Ben Jerry's Homemade is one of the examples of the organization, which has successful adopted this culture. Delegation of Power and Responsibility: Delegation of power and responsibility can increase the performance of employees. This will motivate other employees to work at best to get the higher position in the organization. The feeling of control over others is one of the ways for motivation among employees. Recommendation Pluto Telecommunication should conduct the regular meetings, as it is necessary to remove the communication gap among three departments. The meetings held will remove the communication gap and will help to track progress/performance of departments. This will also lead to harmony among the departments. When It Rains It Pours As I sit here listening to it fall on my window sill I feel a shade of darkness come over me. I walk outside to feel it falling on me. As I life my face towards the heavens to feel it falling on me I have this dark feeling of dred. For me, rainy days and nights make me feel sad inside. I get depressed and want to stay in the house in bed. Whenever it rains I usually come downstairs and look out the window, only to see if my car is still in front of my door. As I stare at the sky, I think to myself, it's going to rain all day. But still, I thought, the sun could shine anyway, bringing with it the spring flowers that smell so lovely, the green grass, the blue sky, and the white clouds. Oh well, just a thought. I close my curtains and go back upstairs, I get back into bed and try to sleep. Sleep eludes me because I am thinking about things like life death, and money. It begins to pour and as the rain falls harder and hevier, I feel myself begining to fall asleep. Rain is like life, it comes and stays a while. Rain is like death, when it's time to stop it knows. Rain is also like money, when you have a lot of it, it pours. I dream of the day when the rain will go away, but until that day, I will listen to its drops on my window pane. The client may not perceive they themselves have an issue with their mindset or behavior. Mostly likely belief that an outside factor is causing an issue. However, Banister has outlined the some simple classes: Primary Self-Destruction This group includes individuals who intentionally choose an action that will bring harm to themselves. Emotional Desegregation Supporting awareness of where you can/cant ethically treat a client. This scale refers to: an emotional response that is poorly modulated, and does to fall within the conventionally accepted range of emotive response [Wisped Emotional Desegregation] Those who cannot regulate their emotions; in particular strong outbursts or physical aggression may need additional support via the GPO. It may be symptomatic of disorder(s), chronic maltreatment or brain injury. If in doubt the counselor must always take advice from their supervisor. External Factors Obvious factors may include alcohol, drugs, smoking, abusive or unhealthy relationships. Perhaps the clients living circumstances are difficult or dire. Perhaps dealing with a seriously ill loved one or supporting someone dealing tit any of the above. Addiction may be to gambling or even technology; a person may be disconnected from the world around them, but believe they are fully involved using social media. If a client has been abused or raped, caution is required as to how much past can be delved into and how soon they are willing to share. Painful memories may require the counselor to primarily focus on future goal and change in behavior. When looking to make changes to an SUB that has sustained someone, albeit negatively, these factors need active consideration. As always, supervision is key. SUB Relationship to Theory Whilst many theories may be used as part of TIME or HINDSIGHT, here are some connecting thoughts. Not an exhaustive list as there are many tools and theories: Transactional Analysis: Mode in support of SUB (I. E. , parental mode, perhaps moral superiority over being wronged). Psychoanalysis: Relating back to an unresolved crisis at a key period. Not just related to childhood, includes adult crisis (I. . , a failed marriage leading to fear of rejection). Personality: Fundamental personality of a client (I. E. Cognitive may be more self-aware of behaviors; sensory may test how change goes for them and what results hey SEE or FEEL). Client Centered: Understanding past history, opening up discussion, create trust and empathy. May be less effective to instigate change itself. Cognitive: Limiting or damaging beliefs. Clients generally believe the harming factor to be external, but discover during counseling that actually they need to change all or part of a belief. Behavioral: Conditioning of an individual. (I. E. , the perfectionist may have come from parental conditioning). Includes Fight/Flight/Freeze conditioning (amazedly changes). Role-play to create a safe environment in which to test scenarios and of course expectation setting that there will be positive and negative experiences whilst the best path is found. Nothing is perfect, but what the above thought process shows is that for any given SUB, there could be many causes, factors and results. The treatment of any SUB brings together all the models we have learnt and key intervention skills to be used. It is also important to remember we can only deal with what the client presents us. It may be that a client is struggling with a task because they have been asked to do something beyond their means rather than they are sabotaging themselves. One can only challenge and reflect with the help their client to consider their statements and honesty. Finally, feel a health warning is again required; a counselor has a great deal of influence once they have understood a client and are entrusted to help with change. The client will want direction. The counselor must be mindful of the clients desires, whilst we will challenge a client, we must not lead them by our own compass but instead support them in finding their own way.

Beauty is Skin Deep Abstract Beauty is skin deep; refers to the outward beauty of a person. We know and realize that a person can be beautiful on the inside. A person with a beautiful mind, we can say him/her as a nice person. But when we listen something beautiful we generally indicate that something outward appearance. So beauty is skin deep; this statement tries to highlight that person’s outward appearance counts for nothing but it is what lies beneath the skin, the real person himself or herself is what actually matters.And I believe the underlying message of this saying is true. So the result of having been beautiful and therefore nicely treated children they develop a positive self-image and they become mature, thoughtful, compassionate individuals who can easily treat others well as they have learned others treat them.In this way this beautiful people become friendlier and nicer than less beautiful people. Some people disagree with the above thinking. They think that people who experience little difficulty he/she can often become incredibly uncharitable, self-centered individuals. Some people gave their opinion in the light of their experience. So if someone has beauty, it will only be on the inside.But if someone is not beautiful on the outside, then he/she can't be beautiful on the inside either as well. Methodology For my research purpose, I have divided the data collection procedure into two parts. I have used primary data to get the real picture of peoples mind. I have also used secondary data to collect various types of information about my topic. Primary data I did a survey on some 20 people where there were men and women of different ages, income and different educational background. For doing this I designed a questionnaire wit h different types of question which eventually helped me to answer of my research questions.Secondary data For my secondary research, I used web blogs, online articles, and online magazines, different theories, abstract of research findings etc. Data presentation and analysis according to my research In my research I have tried to define beauty, its elements or characteristics and try to find out how different types of people perceive beauty. To the end I had been addressing the following research questions according to the Bangladeshi people. What is beauty? Majority agreed with the 2nd question’s statement.They said that someone is really good looking but total jerk and a person with ugly looking but super nice, and then they would choose the ugly person who had a great personality. According to them the criteria to judge one’s beauty should be his/her personality. Their logic was beauty is something which goes over time but one’s inner beauty is something whi ch does not go over time. They think that beauty is something which includes happiness, confidence, dignity and humor. Few people went with the option c. According to them physical appearance is the first thing to see than the other options can be realized slowly over time.So they choose physical appearance as beauty. Beauty can gain genetically or not. Some people agreed with this statement and some did not. Some said that as beauty is the mixture of personality, humor, behavior, proper education and lastly the physical appearance so most of these cannot gain by genetically. People have to achieve those. On the hand some people said it can be gained genetically like height, complexion etc. How can anyone value the beauty or determination of the value of beauty? There are some interesting opinions which I have got.According to some people’s opinion especially male’s to marry or to make a relationship they first see at the physical appearance of women. Few people said t hat physically beautiful persons are self-worth; they think they are prince or princess and deserve to be universally treated better than anyone else. Sometimes they believe they have the right to treat others like dirt. So according to them most physically beautiful persons are bad in relationship. Some people said that most beautiful people are good in their relationship as they are treated well by others in their lives so they also learn to treat others properly.Some people of my survey responded neutrally as they choose may be! According to some people they want to marry someone who has all the criteria in the person. Some people said personality is very important as a good personality holding person can be understanding, friendly, compromising which is very important to stay together. They believe that outward beauty might be disturbing when he/she cannot do compromise or not be understanding. Among twenty peoples, four peoples said that they got preference sometimes like they easily got attention in class from the opposite sex.Seven peoples said that they never got this type of preference. Nine peoples said that they are not sure about this matter. Eight peoples said that they got refused by others but they are not sure for which reasons. Four peoples said that they refused others for this reasons. And the rest of the people said no, they did not refuse other’s proposal or did not get refused by other for this reason. Beauty is skin deep- agree or disagree. Majority agreed with this statement. Their logic was beauty is something which comes first in front of someone.So for sometimes it carries some significance but ultimate beauty is the inner thing which never goes with time. They said outward beauty is superficial thing. But some people choose the third option. They said that beauty is something that depends in the eye of the beholder. Ethical the ories are the rules and principles that determine right and wrong for any given situation. Buddhist website

The future exploratory study will identify how the multimedia factors contributing to Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) – graphic usage, audio/video usage, merchandise section, etc. – affect Thai user’s attitude toward Buddhist website. The dissertation also seeks to determine whether the abovementioned factors make user to have either positive or negative or indifferent attitude toward the site. The study will employ a two-part qualitative methodology, and the results, it is hoped, will lead to more informed policies for the assessment of Thai user’s attitude toward Buddhist websites.This dissertation will employ heuristic and field research methodology to perform a high-level cultural analysis on Website design for the purposes of future research. The analysis of socio-economical and cultural issues (religion, Human-Computer Interaction, e-commerce, ethnography) relating to Website design is especially valuable from the perspective of the Thai-speaking Bu ddhist audience. Future research on the matters stated above is expected to clarify what kind of information people from the particular cultural region expect and how it should be designed.Literature Review Mayhew once compared a website to a book which anyone can display on The World Wide Web (WWW) which is â€Å"a repository of public information and transactions created by the public and accessible to the public via the Internet† (Mayhew, 2003, p. 3). The characteristics of the WWW are tensely linked to the ones of the website. Any website incorporates multimedia data such as text, static graphics, sound, animation, movie clips and virtual spaces arranged as hypermedia documents.These are the â€Å"documents that contain links to other pages of information† (Dodge & Kitchin, 2001, p. 3). The key issue about a website is its interactive, multimedia and hypermedia nature. The present research should be inevitably wrapped around the principles of Human-Computer Interac tion (HCI), user interface (UI) design, website usability engineering, and their influences on the website users. Alty defined the goal of HCI as â€Å"the efficient transfer of information between persons and computers† (2003a, p.100). According to Alty, HCI is [†¦] a generic term that describes all the activities concerned with the research, design, analysis, development, implementation and evaluation of the interactions across the interface between computer applications and human beings (often called users or operators) who are interacting with the application. (Alty, 2003b, p. 228) An authentic website should be constructed according to the principle of user-centered design.It means that â€Å"the needs, capabilities and limitations of the intended users [should be] properly taken into account during the design process† (Alty, 2003a, p. 100). Among the Internet user interface capabilities and constraints affecting users’ perceptions Mayhew listed modem speed, browser capabilities, browser controls and interpreters, installed â€Å"helper applications† or â€Å"plug-ins,† windowing, direct manipulation, and color (2003, p. 11).Within the context of HCI, a website utilizes output (text, graphics, sound, music, speech, color, animation, still pictures, moving video) and input (text [keyboard, handwriting], gesture [mouse, pen, dataglove, eye-movement], audio [voice or sound]) media to produce an effect on the user. Most literature investigates the tokens of user-friendliness in regard to a website (Mayhew, 2003; Mayhew & Bias, 2003; Opaluch, 2003; Boardman, 2004). Acknowledging the importance of this concept, Kurosu (2003) relied on cultural aspects of web usability such as â€Å"cultural variety† and â€Å"depth of culture† (p.48). The researcher utilized Suzuki's (1997) definition of the culture as â€Å"the response pattern shared by some specific group of people that is shaped through interaction with the environment† (Kurosu, 2003, p. 48) holding â€Å"the response pattern† as â€Å"how people will interact with the Website,† and â€Å"interaction with the environment† as â€Å"the interaction with the Website through the PC environment, including the browser. † Laney (1998) in his investigation of religious Christian Web sites relied on the Media System Dependency as well as uses and gratifications perspectives.Some researchers (Weeks & Goodman, 2003; Proctor & Vu, 2003) investigated HIC within the context of human information processing and perceptual-motor behavior, whereas the other group of scholars (van der Veer & del Carmen, 2003; Yoshikawa, 2003) emphasized the mental modeling as the core of HCI. Finally, Brave & Nass (2003) researched emotional implications of human-computer interaction. There is also a considerable body of research (Mayhew & Bias, 2003; Carey, 2001; Steinbock, 2000; Varey, 2001) dedicated to the issues of e-commerce a nd marketing relating to websites.Taken into account the field of the present research, reaction of Thai users towards Buddhist websites, the abovestated mechanisms and structures of HCI with a stress of user-friendliness should be analyzed within the religious and cultural context. The relation to culture in terms of geographical location is distorted and made complex within the WWW context (Couldry & McCarthy, 2004; Miller, 2004; Dodge & Kitchin, 2001; Kurosu, 2003). Geographical boundaries (the areas where people confess Buddhism, Thailand as a state unity) do not coincide with cultural zones (Thai cultural identity) and virtual areas (the WWW).On the one hand, Thailand is ready to enter the global community with its rather developed media network (Hamilton, 2002; Mccargo, 2002). On the other hand, the Thai national cultural identity is of introvert type with its â€Å"assertion of distinctiveness in relation to a powerful external world of ‘others’† (Hamilton , 2002, p. 153). One should also take into consideration the cultural elements constituting the religion of Buddhism. Haynes (2003) stated that over 90 per cent of the Thais are Buddhists.In Thailand Buddhism is â€Å"the sasana pracham chat, that is, the ‘inherent’ national religion† and constitutes â€Å"an ideological basis and political legitimacy† for the state (Haynes, 2003, p. 365). However, Haynes (2003) noted that the role of the state religion is flexible and â€Å"open to debate† (ibid. ). Swearer emphasized the unusual orientation of Thai Buddhism towards â€Å"[t]he cult of relics, images, icons, and amulets† (2003, p. 10). The religion in Thailand became more â€Å"secular and commercial† (ibid. ).The discussion seems especially interesting when religious issues are projected onto the virtual reality in the form of a religious website. Miller & Slater acknowledged â€Å"the coming together of a widespread interest in the spiritual implications of the technology, found in some of the cyberutopian literature, together with an interest in the use of the Internet on the part of established religions† (2000, p. 173). Laney (1998) noted that the simplification of web technologies and, thus, their cheapening contributed to the proliferation of religious websites.Unfortunately, the accessible literature concentrated on Christian websites with no comparison to other confessions. Last (2005) provided an interesting statistics on the Christian websites in regard to the goal of the website users in their accessing the religious websites. According to the source, 32 percent of the web-surfers are interested in religious news, 17 percent search for places to worship, 14 percent plan religious group meetings via the Internet, and 7 percent donate to charity with the help of the WWW.Besides, 11 percent of Internet users download spiritual music, 35 percent send online greeting cards, and 38 percent email spi ritual messages. Unfortunately, the statistics is rather modest in regard to Buddhist websites. Within the Thailand context, Hachigian & Wu observed such HCI problems as â€Å"the lack of IT access in rural areas where most of the population lives, lack of literacy in English/lack of Thai content, incompatible systems in different parts of the government, and inadequate training of officials† (2003, p. 88). Most of the Buddhist websites found by a plain search via search engines (Yahoo, Google, etc.) are written in English. Therefore, the present investigation is associated with difficulties in locating authentic sites for analysis. Problem definition It is true that literature about the WWW and general principles of website user interface (UI) design has grown lately. However, religious usage of websites is significantly underexplored. It is especially evident in regard to non-Christian religious websites. Religious website usage may contribute positively to the body of scho larly research on the motivations for religious Web use. The media being studied are Buddhist religious sites on the World Wide Web.Large investments are being made into the construction and development of religious websites on the Internet. A great proportion of Buddhist websites are written in English and seeks to meet cultural expectations of the Westerners. Laney (1998) once defined the problem for his investigation of Christian websites as the poorly researched motivations of the English-speaking visitors. Britain of evacuation in World War Two Essay During the course of World War Two, many people were evacuated, not just children. There were many differing reactions to evacuation. The reaction would depend on the experience you had. Reactions would also change over time during the war and even after the war had finished. One set of people affected by Evacuation was the Children. Many children did not know where they were going and therefore experienced feelings of fear and anger. The children disliked being separated from their parents but put on brave faces so not worry their families. When the children arrived at their destination, they were taken to school halls of town meeting places where the were chosen by their â€Å"foster† families, which they disliked because often they were split from their sisters and brothers. If they had negative attitudes, they very often did not settle quickly like those who had positive attitudes and would see their stay as a holiday. If an evacuee had a positive experience, they would have pleasant memories of being treated as one of the family. Evacuation was described as â€Å"no better than a ‘paedophile’s charter’ † as it would have been easier to abuse children away from home. However, in a study of 450 ex-evacuees, only 12% of them had bad experiences. Michael Caine remembers being evacuated with his brother Clarence. He said † My brother used to went the bed when he was nervous. My foster mother could not figure out who it was so she beat both of us, and Clarence became more nervous and wet the bed more. † However, not all experiences were bad. On ex-evacuees remembers being given clothes when he was evacuated. A child’s reaction to evacuation would depend on their experiences while in care. Another set of people who were affected by evacuation was the children’s parents. Most parents were reluctant to send their children away but agreed because of propaganda. Not all parents sent their children away though. Some parents thought that their children were safe in their family home. However, most parents brought their children home due to the ‘phoney ‘ war. But the children were evacuated again when the Blitz happened, although the scale of evacuation was not as large as the first wave in September 1939.
